The premise of our book, Kaleidoscope Diaries: True Stories of Wit and Resilience, is that we all experience changes, some welcome, some not. The kaleidoscope metaphor is powerful as it illustrates the complex and beautiful connections and patterns that shape our life journeys. One thing we can be sure of is that transformation will happen, sometimes through a simple twist of circumstance.
Our book offers both humorous and serious true stories, a total of 63 stories. We hope our funny tales cause you to laugh out loud. Believe it or not, laughter strengthens resilience. And our purpose in sharing the poignant memories is to reach you in ways that inspire you and support you as you navigate the challenges of everyday life.
Resiliency is now a big part of our global lexicon; it’s a highly valuable trait discussed in business, education, disaster response, health care, psychology, social justice, climate change, and so on. Believe it or not, laughter strengthens resilience. How can that be? Well, there’s lots of evidence that the most resilient people find ways to experience positive emotions in the middle of stress, and it helps them rebound from that stress.
Join us and find yourself in our adventures about parenthood, LGBTQ, mental illness, politics, travel, careers, food, pets, addiction, relationships, spirituality, friendship, grief, and general shenanigans. We hope that you find beauty and new ideas, just as you do when you twist a kaleidoscope.
