Empire? Realm?

If you follow 45’s social platforms you might know that his Instagram recently posted the following words: “Industrial strength significantly increased driven by the creation of a unified reich…” Presumably this will happen if 45 is elected in November. I find his use of the word “reich”, and not that long ago the word “vermin”, too damn close to Hitler adulation to not be alarmed.

I know at least two people who are able to put his use of inflammatory words in the context of his mental illness. I wish I could just let my anxiety go and instead, as my friend Debby Lacy would say, “pray for him”. The only prayer I have is the belief that regardless of the politics and rhetoric of 45 and his followers, the United States is made up of a lot of decent, reasonable people. Together, doing what we can to help the Democrats in the races be successful, we can influence the outcome of the election.

His Republican congress-buddies are out there vying to be his running mate. I recently saw a picture of several of them standing outside the New York court building wearing blue suits and red ties. Like twisted kids dressing up for Halloween, they echoed the language that he is not able to speak for himself. There are those in congress who are still supporting the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen. All in pursuit of some sort of power that seems bent on destroying our democratic republic.

As I write this I wonder why I give 45 any of my time at all. And I certainly wonder why the news media covers him and his twisted words with such regularity. It’s like gifting him with free campaign air time. That I give him any room in my head is also alarming to me.

In stark contrast, the Biden/Harris administration has a long list of accomplishments intended for the betterment of the United States and its people. In my opinion, this is the stuff that the news folks should be covering. Of course, it’s not as newsworthy as the latest 45 antics – and isn’t that a damn shame!

During 45’s time in office, I read the book about him written by his niece, Mary Trump. It’s a chilling read as she gives example after example of his entitled upbringing during which his actions rarely had negative consequences. He never learned the lesson of personal responsibility for doing the next right thing. Back in those years she was brave enough to include the words, “How my family created the most dangerous man in the world”, in the title of her book. I was skeptical until I read through the book and realized just how damaged 45 is. Of course, he continues to lie, cheat, and steal his way up through our political system.

I wonder how many people out there will have to hold their noses as they cast a vote for him, the presumptive Republican nominee for President. Too many for my comfort, I’m afraid.
